Train at Our Part 141 Locations
Our VA-approved Part 141 training locations exist to produce professional pilots. Training runs on an FAA-approved syllabus with defined stage checks, documented progress and instructor standardization – the structure airlines, charter operators and corporate flight departments expect from the pilots they hire.
Your benefits are applied to a program built around an occupational outcome: a Commercial certificate and the instrument proficiency employers require. Every hour is flown against a syllabus that moves you toward that qualification.
Our Part 141 locations are approved by the Colorado and California State Approving Agencies to offer Veteran Benefits.
A Veteran may use his or her benefits for flight training and be reimbursed for a percentage of the flight training costs.
The courses that our Part 141 locations are approved for currently are the Instrument Pilot Rating, and Commercial Pilot – Single-Engine and Multi-Engine Land Ratings.
We now offer Part 141 training at our San Jose, California location (KRHV) as well.
How to Apply
File Your VA Form
Two different VA forms apply, depending on the chapter you are applying or approved for:
- Chapter 31 VR&E – file VA Form 28-1900. See Apply for Veteran Readiness and Employment (VR&E).
- Chapter 33 Post-9/11 – file VA Form 22-1990. See How to apply for the GI Bill and related benefits.
Bring Your Documents
- Valid driver’s license
- Valid passport
- DD-214
- Certificate of Eligibility (COE) – this ONLY applies to Chapter 33 Post-9/11 Veterans
- First or Second-Class Medical
- Private Pilot’s License (other issued Airman certificates if applicable)
- Prior credit/training documents or transcripts – this will determine your program direction/flow and eligibility

Getting Reimbursed
Students are not required to submit anything for reimbursement. We submit the required training information on your behalf directly to the VA.
Any denied reimbursements are the responsibility of the student.

VA Flight Training Benefits
Chapter 33 – Post-9/11 GI Bill
Eligible veterans may qualify for Chapter 33 benefits if they meet applicable service requirements, including:
- At least 90 days of qualifying active-duty service on or after September 11, 2001.
- An honorable discharge following at least 90 days of qualifying service.
- Purple Heart recipients may qualify under special eligibility provisions.
Your benefit percentage is generally determined by your qualifying length of active-duty service:
- 100% – 36 months or more
- 90% – 30–35 months
- 80% – 24–29 months
- 70% – 18–23 months
- 60% – 6–17 months
- 50% – 90 days–5 months
The VA pays for eligible flight and ground training included in the approved Part 141 training syllabus.
Please note: Training or expenses outside the approved Part 141 syllabus are not covered. This may include additional flight or training time, checkrides, Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE) fees, medical examinations, equipment, insurance, and membership dues.
No. Students participating in flight training are not eligible for Monthly Housing Allowance (MHA) under Chapter 33.
No. Students do not have to be enrolled at an Institution of Higher Learning (IHL) to pursue eligible flight training using their VA education benefits.

Chapter 31 – Veteran Readiness & Employment (VR&E)
Eligibility for Chapter 31 benefits is determined by the VA and generally may include veterans who:
- Were honorably discharged on or after January 1, 2013.
- Have a VA disability rating of at least 10%.
Note: Additional eligibility requirements may apply, and final eligibility is determined by the VA.
The VA may pay for eligible flight and ground training included in the approved Part 141 training syllabus.

Yes. Students participating in flight training may be eligible for Monthly Housing Allowance under Chapter 31, provided they meet applicable VA requirements and are enrolled and actively training at the required rate, generally at least three-quarter time.
