CERTIFIED FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR
Join the Next Generation of Pilots
Flight instruction is one of the most effective ways to build flight time, earn income, and help shape the next generation of pilots.
Depending on choice of aircraft, frequency of training, training location, 3rd party check ride fees, previous experience, study habits, choice of training equipment will influence the range of pricing.
Cost estimates for 2026: A flight instructor (CFI) certificate usually adds $4,000 to $9,000 on top of your commercial, mostly spin training, teaching practice, and the knowledge tests. Some individual school programs price the CFI course around $10,000–$11,000+ when bundled with extensive ground school.
Many professional instructors eventually earn all three certifications.
Flight instruction allows pilots to build valuable flight experience while earning income. It is one of the most common pathways toward airline, corporate, charter, and other professional aviation careers.
